AESOP · joint operations wargaming
Plan, decide and conduct a joint operation —
and see the risk before you act.
Command a side in a real theatre, across land, sea, air, the electromagnetic spectrum and the information environment. State your intent and the effects you want; your staff turns them into tasks, allocates the assets and sets the timing. Before you commit, you see the likely outcome and what it may cost, and every strike is checked against your directive and the no-strike list. The decision stays yours — or your staff's, within the limits you set.

Getting started
Sign in, then create a game in Games, take a side and send the invite link to the other side — or learn the ropes alone with the solo try-out. Each screen opens with a short explanation.
What it lets you do
- Command in real theatres Straits, coasts, deserts and cities, the High North included — historical campaigns and prospective crises
- Plan by effects State the effect you want on each objective; your staff derives the tasks, allocates the assets and sets the timing
- Run the targeting cycle Nominate, validate against your directive, the rules of engagement and the no-strike list, approve, engage, assess
- Weigh the risk first Compare courses of action against the enemy's most likely and most dangerous — the chance of success and what it may cost
- Work with partners Train, equip, advise and accompany partner forces — you support them; you do not command them
- Play it together Each side and its allies at their own screens, a game master who sees everything and injects events, observers
How a game runs
- 1 Brief Your mission, your directive and your picture of the theatre
- 2 Plan Effects, targets and tasks, matched to the assets you hold
- 3 Decide At the targeting board, with the risks in view, approve what is engaged and when — or delegate to your staff within your directive
- 4 Execute Your forces carry out their orders against an opponent who is acting too
- 5 Assess What was achieved, what it cost, what changed
- 6 Adapt Re-engage, re-plan or change course — and debrief at the end with a turn-by-turn review
